The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Alan Buribayev, performs Rimsky-Korsakov's richly orchestrated musical journey, Scheherazade., Op 35.
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade is a dazzling showcase of orchestral colour and storytelling, inspired by the tales of One Thousand and One Nights. In this performance by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the music bursts to life with vivid character and sweeping drama. At the heart of the work is the voice of Scheherazade herself, portrayed by a solo violin, weaving tales night after night to delay her fate. Each movement paints a new scene—stormy seas, royal festivals, and adventurous voyages—all brought vividly to life by Rimsky-Korsakov’s brilliant orchestration. Under the baton of dynamic Kazakh conductor, Alan Buribayev, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra captures the magic, mystery, and elegance of this musical epic.
Performed live on 28 June 2024 at Federation Concert Hall, Nipaluna/Hobart.
