The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) perform Bruckner's monumental fourth symphony.
Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No 4 in E-flat major, known as the ‘Romantic’, is a vast and majestic work that invites listeners into a world of medieval castles, forest hunts, and spiritual reflection. The grandeur and mystery of Bruckner’s vision are brought vividly to life in this performance by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM). From the shimmering horn call that opens the first movement to the blazing triumph of the finale, the orchestra navigates Bruckner’s towering architecture with clarity, warmth, and depth. TSO Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Eivind Aadland, draws out the symphony’s contrasts – its serenity and struggle, grandeur and intimacy – offering an experience both emotionally stirring and spiritually uplifting.
Performed live on 2 Nov 2024 at Federation Concert Hall, Nipaluna / Hobart, Tasmania, Australia
