Grieg's Norsk
10m
Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, and Norwegian native, Eivind Aadland, leads the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra through a charming and heartfelt performance of Grieg's short orchestral work, Norsk.
Like many composers of his generation, Edvard Grieg was interested in drawing inspiration from the folk music traditions of his homeland. His short orchestral work, Norsk, blends lively rhythms and expressive melodies that evoke the beauty of Norway’s countryside and traditions. The music has a dance-like quality, filled with bright and energetic moments, giving a sense of celebration. Grieg uses rich harmonies and distinctive Scandinavian flavours to create a vivid portrayal of his homeland, making it feel both charming and heartfelt.
