Everyday is filled with reality. Leave it behind for a while.
Shostakovich’s Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings is the perfect canvas for two young stars to shine as TSO Principal Trumpet Fletcher Cox makes his solo debut alongside New Zealand pianist, Sylvia Jiang.
Mendelssohn’s music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which he started writing at just 16, captures enchantment and mischief before culminating in the joyful, instantly recognisable Wedding March.
The program is opened by Weber’s shimmering Oberon Overture, while Estonian conductor Olari Elts brings his irrepressible energy to the podium.
This concert is part of our Federation Concert Hall Series.
