A chaotic cacophony.
Conducted by Benjamin Bayl, featuring mezzo-soprano Caitlin Hulcup. Will Newbery hosts the evening.
Think orchestral music is slow? This concert is a chaotic cacophony of Baroque madness, we think you’ll like it.
Rebel wrote Les Élémens about the explosive creation of life on Earth, and the chaos of nature’s wildest elements. Luckily, your favourite presenter Will Newbery will be there to guide you through the fire and water – then he’ll take his seat to play viola with his fabulous TSO team.
We’ll also play music from Handel’s opera Orlando, which features a tapestry of lovers. Zoroastro likes meddling in their affairs – but this ancient prophet will be the star of his own show in Rameau’s suite. Then, if you’re up for a bit of time travel, you can leap into the modern day with Australian composer Joe Chindamo’s variations on a 17th-Century classic.
Caitlin Hulcup will sing in the Federation Concert Hall, just as she’s performed in the leading opera houses of Europe. The equally impressive Benjamin Bayl will be the one standing on the podium, bringing this music to life through the power of gesture.
Watch the livestream on Thursday 24 Jul 2025 6pm
